When you're reasonably sure it's happy where it's at, then you can start adding your coral frags. It's far from foolproof but this is how others have had success with BTA's. I love anemones!
My old nem started walking in the middle of the night and brushed against a few corals You all talked me out of an anem for my biocube. Bit of a noob question, but Will my clowns that im getting be effected by the lack of an anemone? If wild caught, I think they're far happier with an anemone do your research though, both as far as which species of anemone will pair with your species of clown as well as the care needs of the anemone.
I agree clowns don't need a nem. I think it is sad looking when they host powerheads or an empty corner. I just only put softies in my tank until I got my BTAs and they settled down. I've never had any issues with them. BTA split by Penny , on Flickr. Clowns will host in whatever they see fit-brain coral, killed it the brain, not the clown , started hosting in my acans which I was not happy about.
Finally got it to host in a toadstool, which is the least offensive to me don't think the toad is too happy though. Wants nothing to do with the BTA's. Any potential issues I should consider? The bta wandered a bit just on the left hand side of the tank and now appears to have settle on one spot IME I haven't had any issues with multi nems in one tank, I currently have a Sebae, a bta and a rock nem all in my gal no issues, my LFS keeps a tank full of nems for sale all together as well with no issues i've seen, hope that helps ya.
With all due respect to bigpapaoffive, I respectfully disagree. I believe it is possible under the right conditions to keep different Anemone's however they may wage a chemical war on each other. The chance of this happening may be low but IMO it is not worth the risk. One other reason is you can't simply glue them in place so if they decide to get too close to each other you may end up with one getting eaten by the other or severely damaged by the other one.
Best wishes, James. Heteractis crispa is an aggressive anemone. Not a good idea. It is ok to stuff a few of the same anemones together but I tend to agree that mixing is not a good idea. Display as a link instead. Clear editor. Upload or insert images from URL.
