Who is ibid in islam

I used to think that "IBID" was also a book I first saw it while reading some Shi'a book And then when I saw it while reading some American scholarly work I was like, why would they use a Shi'a source? Made no sense lol And then I started seeing it everywhere And that is when I realised that it wasn't a book!! I think they should make footnotes for interpreting what "ibid" means. LOL this is one of the most useful posts i've found on shiachat I didn't know it either now i'm just hitting my head with the wall.

For example if someone gives a list of references and writes: 1-Nehjul Balagah, page 2-Ibid, page It simply means the first quote is from Nehjul Balagah, page and second quote is also from Nehjul Balagah, page Khuda Hafiz. Shukran akhi Lol, you thought exactly what I was thinking. Is it an abbreviation of some sort? Hajar Posted August 30, Veteran Member. Salaam Him I read the book myself. Zuljenah Posted August 30, Guest Posted August 30, Latin, short for ibidem , meaning the same place is the term used to provide an endnote or footnote citation or reference for a source that was cited in the preceding endnote or footnote.

If, for example, you are referencing something like The Effects of Factory-Produced Emissions on the Greater Nile Watershed: An Environmental Study, that's a long title to have to refer to again and again. So instead of typing out Sharks: Mighty Finned Killers of the Deep every time you refer to the book you used in your science project, you simply type "Ibid" for each reference after the first one, then cite the page number to which you're referring.

There is a link between this term and the character in the Discworld, though it's the opposite relation than the one you assumed. Since ibid is such a commonly encountered Latin term, at least for people in academia, Pratchett named the character after that. See here: wiki. Add a comment. Active Oldest Votes.
